1.
The name of the Association shall be the Gryffe High School
Parent Teacher Association.
2. The object of the Association shall be to help the school
and the parents it serves, by promoting a sense of partnership
between parents and teachers for the benefit of the children
who attend Gryffe High School.
3. (a) teaching staff, parents and guardians of pupils attending
Gryffe High School are Members of the Association, and may
vote on Association matters.
(b) former teaching staff, parents and guardians of former
pupils are Associate Members of the Association, and do
not have a vote on Association matters.
4. There is no annual subscription
5. The office bearers shall be the Head Teacher, ex
officio, as Honorary President, the President, Vice-President,
Secretary and Treasurer.
6. (a) The business of the Association shall be managed
by a committee consisting of a minimum of eight parents
and up to three members of the teaching staff. Office bearers
shall be elected by the committee at the first committee
meeting following the Annual General Meeting or Special
General Meeting which elected the committee.
(b) the
committee shall have the power to appoint a representative
of parents of children entering the school during the year
following the annual general meeting.
(c) the committee shall have the power to fill any vacancies
occurring in the interval between Annual General Meetings.
(d) the committee shall have the power to appoint subcommittees
which in turn may co-opt members.
(e) three parents and one teacher shall retire annually
but be eligible for re-election.
(f) associate members may not vote.
(g) no member shall serve more than two terms, each term
being three years.
7. An Annual General Meeting, for which 4 days notice must
be given, shall be held to fill vacancies on the committee,
to consider the reports of the Secretary and the Treasurer,
and to transact any other competent business.
8. (a) the committee shall meet as frequently as may be
found necessary and at any time at the request of the President.
(b) at a committee meeting, five members shall form a quorum.
9. (a) the funds of the Association shall be lodged in a
bank in the name of the Association.
(b) money may be drawn from the account on the signatures
of any two of the President, Secretary and Treasurer.
(c) it shall be competent for the Treasurer to retain in
hand a sum not exceeding Ten Pounds for current expenses.
(d) funds may be spent by the committee to pursue the aims
and objectives of the Parent Teacher Association.
(e) in the event of the dissolution of the Association all
funds shall be transferred to the Gryffe High School's School
Fund.
10. The accounts of the Association shall be closed on April
30th each year, and shall be audited annually.
11. The auditor shall not be a member of the committee and
shall be appointed for the ensuing year at the Annual general
Meeting.
12. No amendment to the Constitution of the Association
shall be made, except at an Annual General Meeting, or Special
General Meeting convened for that purpose; such proposed
amendment being specified in the notice calling the meeting.
A proposed amendment requires to be approved by not less
than two-thirds of the members present at the meeting. A
motion for amendment of the Constitution shall be submitted
not less than seven days before the notice calling an Annual
General Meeting or Special General Meeting, which notice
is sent out not less than fourteen days before the date
of the Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting.
